Since 1994, thanks to support from a growing number of private and public partners, le Club des petits déjeuners du Québec (Breakfast Club of Quebec) has installed its services in 244 clubs in primary and secondary schools in Quebec.

In 2000, le Club des petits déjeuners du Québec introduced JeunEstime values which aim to nurture self-esteem of children.

In 2005,
le Club des petits déjeuners du Québec became a partner of the World Food Programme United Nations. In addition to sharing expertise and best practices Club with WFP, Daniel Germain has been responsible for the Canadian portion of Walk the World, the global march against hunger.

In 2006, the first Millennium Summit was born. In addressing the theme "Children's Hour", Daniel Germain, initiator of the project, wanted to collect on a single platform for key decision makers in the world, those who have the power to educate, raise awareness and take concrete action to improve the plight of children worldwide.

In 2007, le Club des petits déjeuners du Québec has received from the hands of Minister Michelle Courchesne, the Hommage volunteer-Quebec 2007 in category Organization in action. This honor underscores the exceptional quality of work and the impact that the Club has on the economic and social development of Quebec, welcomes also the strength of commitment of our volunteers and the weight of their dedication to the Club.

During the 2008-09 school year, the Club has served 2.1 million breakfasts.

MISSION
Founded in 1979, the Foundation of eye diseases is the only foundation that Quebec intends only his resources to research on diseases of the eye. It is officially recognized by the Health Research Fund of Quebec (FRSQ) and the Medical Research Council (MRC), agencies that support research in all fields of action of the medicine in Quebec and Canada. Nonprofit organization which combine many volunteers, the Foundation relies on the generosity of the public because many people who see philanthropy as a core value of our society. They found, for a donation to the Foundation of eye disease, a means to express that conviction. The Foundation solicits donations and sponsorships and organizing fundraising activities. Funds raised are used to fund research on eye diseases in major research universities in Quebec. Its board consists of a maximum of 20 members from the scientific, business, social organizations and individuals concerned with and sensitive to the importance of healthy vision.

OBJECTIVES
Three fundamental objectives of the Foundation animate eye diseases:

Prevent eye disease and blindness by funding work
Research aimed at better understanding the causes and the history
natural diseases of the eye and to discover
ways to combat them.

Promote interest in research
researchers by providing the financial means
necessary to carry out their work

Inform and educate the population
by organizing various campaigns
Subscription and Awareness

THE FOUNDATION OF DISEASES OF THE EYE:
presence challenging for researchers

The competition for grants is fierce in many areas of health. In this regard, the Foundation provides researchers with an eye disease and exclusive independent source of funding.
It is an essential instrument of choice.

The current research fields that are supported by the Foundation are cancer of the eye, glaucoma, diseases and corneal transplants, the diabetes-related vision problems, strabismus and macular diseases and inflammatory
Research: a long term investment which is the best guarantee of maintaining and improving the quality of life of citizens.


Project selection

So that the funds are allocated in sound projects, the Foundation has established a scientific committee which oversees the analysis and monitoring of each case. This peer review committee works closely with the Research Network of the FRSQ. Assessments are also made in the United States and Europe.
Analysis and the scientific committee selects the most innovative and most promising, and then makes recommendations to the Board. Some of the main criteria considered when selecting projects:

    
* Originality of the project,
    
* The quality of the methods proposed by researchers;
    
* The evaluation of success of the project
    
* Quality management in human resources and material for the research community.
